Depression

A depression is a formal psychiatric illness, even one of the most common.

Depresed people can`t see meaning in anything and see all dread.
Nothing comes out of their hands and even a cup of coffee is too much trouble.
They would prefer to stay in bed because they feel very tired.

They might even find themselfs a worthless persoon. It is a normal part of our emotional life and can occur in response to an unpleasant event, but also can appeared with no obvious reason.

If the somber mood is intense and someone has no control over, we talk about a depression.
This is a condition that is characterized by including a morbid gloom. Depression is an illness.

When we are talking about a depression we mean the mental illness or disorder and not a sad or depressed mood.
Without treatment, depression can last for months or even years.
Also come back more often than a depression. With proper treatment, nearly everyone gets better.
Moreover, treatment of this disease is usually possible.

Depression is more common than most people think.
One out of five women and one out of ten men get depressed in some point of their life.
These figures are only the ‘real’ depression counted, or they would of course much higher.
Almost always depression comes twice as common for women then for men.
People from low income groups have a relatively greater risk of depression.
The same goes for singles, such as divorced people, widows and widowers. Many people only have a period in their lives suffer from depression.
But at 40 to 50 percent of patients suffer from recurrent depressive episodes, depression comes back each time..
